GREEN POWER!!!

One of my absolute favorite "super" foods are green foods, they are a great addition to anyone's current diet. Green foods allow us to get vital nutrients from plants rather than having to eat meat products or take a pill.

Spirulina: This blue-green algae is a complete protein (65 to 71% protein) with all 22 amino acids, the entire vitamin B family including B-12 (with more than liver), naturally chelated minerals, and essential fatty acids like gamma linolic acid (GLA, the only food source other then chlorella and mother’s milk). It is easily digestible for rapid and long-range energy.

Chlorella: A powerful combination of amino and nucleic acids, B vitamins, Omega- 3 and -6 fatty acids, a variety of minerals and Vitamins C and E for mental clarity and sharpness. It has the highest amount of chlorophyll then any other plant, balances blood sugars, improves mental vitality and multiplies your T-cells times four, strengthening your immune system. This powerful superfood has a range of nutrients to release the energy you need throughout the day.

The interesting thing (or one of them) about these powerhouse substances is that your body actually absorbs the protein from green foods substantially better than the protein from meat (85% for spirulina vs. 22% for meat). Your body really utilizes the amino acid molecules as opposed to protein molecules and green foods are full of raw enzymatic amino acids. Not to mention, when you cook meat, the natural occurring amino acids are typically destroyed due to high heat and most of the meat that fills out grocery stores are low quality, so if you do eat meat, do your best to get grass fed and organic. And if you happen to be a vegetarian or vegan, well this is a perfect addition to your life! I do know one thing for sure, and that is green foods simply make me feel great and that speaks for itself:)

  2. Lately I have just been doing green shakes/drinks. Remember, I have had no animal products, so no whey. Honestly the spirulina is pretty hardcore so sometimes I will just do it alone. I also use greens from Amazing Grass which tastes really good but these listed here are supreme quality! You can get pills too, I recommend going to Vitamin Cottage or if you want I will tell you what kinds to order online so it;s cheaper:)
