Auricular Acupuncture utilizes the ear as a representation of the whole body. It symbolizes an inverted fetus. This type of acupuncture is one of the more widely used microsystems within eastern medicine. Microsystems use one aspect of the body - for example, the ears, hands or feet - to treat conditions that are present anywhere in the body. Auricular acupuncture may be used as a primary mode of treatment or in conjunction with other treatments such as acupuncture, bodywork or herbal medicine. On the ear there are hundreds of acupuncture points that effectively treat things such as organ disorders, addictions, emotional and mental imbalances, physical ailments, neurological disorders, as well as symptoms of high blood pressure and fever. Practitioners are able to use needles or seeds depending on the condition present.
